Good coffee places in Berlin
My definition of “good coffee places” includes, although, by no mean limited by, offering a “not too fruity” filter coffee, batch brew, or a decent americano.
Prenzlauer Berg / Mitte
Cafelix, Winsstraße 47. A very cozy and homey place, where the owner (?) calls everybody “darling” :)
Coffee Circle, Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 19. Laptop-friendly and surprisingly quiet.
Cookies & Co, Senefelderstraße 4. (closed) A coffee place, stylized after the “home disco vibes”. Besides americano, they have Medoviks (Honigtorte), which is always plesent surprise for Berlin.
Firstcrack Coffee, Raumerstraße 40, 10437. A small coffee place, that roasts coffee beans themselves. In Summer, they serve a delicious citrus cold brew tonic.
Five Elephant, Kollwitzstraße 98. A tiny one and very popular.
KAFFEE.BAR, Stargarder Str. 55a. During the lockdown it was decent for the “takeaways”. Nowadays, on weekends, it’s always fully packed during brunch time.
Kajumi, Dunckerstraße 73. I’m yet to figure out, which different sorts of coffee they list in the menu, but whenever I order a “V60 but something not fruity”, they manage.
MilchHallee, Auguststraße 50. Can be packed on a sunny day. Their filter is so-so nowadays, but it was nice during the pandemic’s lockdown.
Oslo Kaffebar, Eichendorffstraße 13. “The best coffee bar in Mitte”, according to some.
SPRO, Schönhauser Allee 50A. Fine black coffee and English scones.
St. Oberholz (it’s another Coffee Circle now), Schönhauser Allee 4. A laptop-friendly place but could be packed on weekdays. Usually, the laptop-free zone isn’t as crowed.
Zacharias, Kollwitzstraße 44.
Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg
19grams, Schlesische Str. 38. Filter coffee and “blondy” bars are the must there.
Boxi Espresso, Boxhagener Str. 12.
Coffee Karros, Proskauer Str. 8.
Others
The Barn (all of them). I’m really not much into their americano. But in summer, they make “coffee with grapefruit juice” (shakerato). V60 there is overpriced — ask barista if they have “batch brew”.
